Daniella SmithOne of the biggest role models in New Zealand boxing is Daniella Smith. Inside the ring, she has accomplished so much in both Amateur boxing and Professional boxing. Including becoming the first ever IBF Women's World champion. She is also a two time New Zealand professional champion, four time New Zealand amateur champion and a former Oceania amateur champion. She retired in 2014 with the record of 13 - 6 - 0 (1 win KO). Outside the ring she is a trainer and a promoter that raises money for charity with her Diamonds in the ring brand. The promotion has raised over $150k with various refuge groups, most notably Women's Refuge. We are proud to announce Daniella Smith as our first inductee to our Hall of fame.
David TuaDavid Tua is an icon in boxing across the world. He is recognized by multiple people to be the best boxer in the world to not have won a world title. His boxing career put both New Zealand and Samoa on the map. In his amateur career he won a Bronze medal in the 1992 Barcelona Olympic games and a Bronze medal in the 1991 Sydney Boxing World Championships. He ended his professional career 52 - 5 - 2 (43 wins by KO). He has won WBC International, IBF USBA, IBF Intercontinental, WBC NABF, WBO Asia Pacific, and WBO Oriental heavyweight titles. He fought Lennox Lewis 11th of November 2000 for the WBC, IBF, IBO World Heavyweight titles, which attracted 1,841,230 people watching the fight in New Zealand, holding the number most viewed event on TV in New Zealand for 11 years. He fought Shane Cameron 3rd October 2009, which was dubbed New Zealand's fight of the century with each boxer receiving 500k each in purse. The fight holds the record for most PPV buys in New Zealand with 88k buys. He has never been stopped in his professional career, has one of the highest Knockout percentages in the world and is known for his devastating power with his left hook. Since retirement he has become a trainer and gym owner, been inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame and was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to youth, boxing and the community in 2001 and 2019. We are proud to induct the legendary David Tua into our hall of fame.
Douglas Carrick BeltonDouglas Carrick Belton is one of New Zealand's most beloved boxing officials. He was once the President of the Commonwealth boxing council and President of the New Zealand Professional Boxing Association. He has judged in over 8 major World title fights, Judges in over 36 titles fights, supervised over 3 titles fights and officiated more then 200 professional fights. He also was the judge of the first ever World title fight to be held in New Zealand on 16th of April 2016 between Kali Reis and Maricela Cornejo for the WBC World middleweight title. He passed away later that year after a long battle with cancer. We like to honor Douglas Carrick Belton for his long contribution to the sport of boxing and thank him for all his hard work. We are honored to induct Douglas Carrick Belton to the Hall of fame.
Kali MeehanKali Meehan is one of the most respected boxers to come out of New Zealand. He is a New Zealand born boxer of Fijian decent that mostly fought out of Australia. His amateur record was 25 - 5. In his professional career he won the South Seas,Oceanic Boxing Association, Australian National, IBF Pan Pacific, WBO Asia Pacific, WBA PABA, WBO NABO, WBF World and WBA Pan African heavyweight titles. He won the Super 8 Heavyweight eight man tournament in 2014, winning $200k. In 2004, he fought Lamon Brewster for the WBO World heavyweight title. Kali Meehan is now a co-anchor on Fight Call Out on Fox Sports in Australia and helps train his son Willis Meehan. He retired in 2015 after fighting Joseph Parker, with the fight breaking a record with the most regional titles on one fight in New Zealand with 6 major regional titles on the line. His final record is 42 - 6 - 0 (32 wins by KO). We are honored to induct Kali Meehan into our hall of fame.
Maselino MasoeMaselino Masoe is one of the most underrated boxers from New Zealand. He has competed in 3 Olympics Representing American Samoa. In his professional career he has won major boxing bouts. The biggest in his career was winning the WBA World middleweight title against Evans Ashira in 2004. He also fought for the WBO World Super Middleweight title in 2009 against Karoly Balzsay. He has also won IBF Pan Pacific, WBA PABA Middleweight titles & NZNBF and WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight titles. Maselino Masoe retired in 2011 with the record of 30 - 6 - 0 (with 28 wins by KO). We are honored to induct Maselino Masoe into our Hall of fame.
Shane CameronShane Cameron is one of the most well known boxers in New Zealand for both his contributions in and outside the ring. In that amateurs he won a Bronze medal in the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games. In his professional career he has won NZPBA, Australasian, WBA Pan African, IBF Pan Pacific, WBO Asia Pacific, WBO Oriental Heavyweight titles & IBO Asia Pacific, and Commonwealth crusierweight titles. He fought David Tua on 3rd October 2009, which was dubbed New Zealand's fight of the century with each boxer receiving 500k each in purse. The fight holds the record for most PPV buys in New Zealand with 88k buys. He fought Danny Green in 2012 for the IBO World Cruiserweight title. He retired in 2014 with the record of 29 - 5 - 0 (22 wins by KO). Outside Shane Cameron has created himself a major brand with his Counter punch line of equipment, his boxing gym, his Event promotions and management with his boxers. He has been on reality tv shows including Dancing with the stars and Celebrity Treasure Island. Shane Cameron does regular charity work with Key to Life, Paw Justice and more.
